Dumerils reach sexual maturity at 3 to 5 years of age. The male has two sexual organs called hemipenes. They also have two distinct anal spurs, which they use during courtship to 'befriend' the female.

Their mating season is March through May, but in captivity in North America, they will mate since December if put together.

Gestation takes about 6 to 8 months, after which the babies are born. Dumeril boas don't have huge litters. On average, they have 5 to 10 babies, but litters over 20 are not uncommon.
